Dua Lipa arrived on the scene in 2017, conquering the charts with her incredible voice and pop rhythms that carry her unique stamp. The British Albanian singer’s aesthetic has ranged from outfits with a retro essence and Y2K touches (which were very present throughout her second studio album, Future Nostalgia) to all those daring and dazzling Versace moments on the red carpet. Now, we appear to be seeing another side of the artist. After deleting all her posts on Instagram, she and her new red hair have been photographed in a floor-length leather shirtdress.
Dua Lipa was one of the guests of honor at AFI Fest 2023 along with Greta Gerwig and Billie Eilish, among other personalities. Held in Los Angeles by the American Film Institute, the event was the perfect setting for the actor to wear the stunning leather dress. The black Gucci look highlighted her new hair color, with her intense black eyeliner look nodding to rock stars of yesteryear. For an added flourish, the “Dance the Night” singer chose pointy-toed red shoes that tied the entire ensemble together.
Though bold and elegant dresses are nothing new for Dua Lipa (remember the Versace bondage model she wore to the Grammys in 2022), the truth is that her recent turn towards minimalist style could be an indication of the creative direction her next album will take. We can’t wait for her to surprise us once again.
