Forward’s 2023 NFL Mock Draft: Chargers snag Anderson, Texans take Young

The 2023 NFL Draft is still a few months away, but that doesn’t mean it’s too early to start thinking about who might go where. With the college football season now in the books, we have a better idea of which players are rising up draft boards and which ones might be falling. In this mock draft, we take a look at how the first round might play out if it were held today. 1. Chicago Bears – C.J. Stroud, QB, Ohio State The Bears have a lot of needs, but quarterback is the most important one. Stroud is the best quarterback in the country and would be a major upgrade over Justin Fields. 2. Houston Texans – Bryce Young, QB, Alabama The Texans have the worst record in the NFL and need a franchise quarterback. Young is a Heisman Trophy winner and would be a great fit in Houston. 3. Arizona Cardinals – Jalen Carter, DT, Georgia Carter is the best defensive player in the country and would be a huge addition to the Cardinals’ defense. 4. Indianapolis Colts – Anthony Richardson, QB, Florida Richardson is a raw talent, but he has all the tools to be a great quarterback. The Colts need a quarterback of the future and Richardson could be that guy. 5. Seattle Seahawks – Will Levis, QB, Kentucky Levis is a big, strong quarterback with a lot of upside. The Seahawks need a quarterback and Levis could be their guy. 6. Detroit Lions – Peter Skoronoski, OT, Northwestern Skoronoski is a massive offensive tackle who would be a great addition to the Lions’ offensive line. 7. Las Vegas Raiders – Myjai Sanders, OLB, Cincinnati Sanders is a dynamic pass rusher who would be a great fit in the Raiders’ defense. 8. Atlanta Falcons – Kelee Ringo, CB, Georgia Ringo is a long, athletic cornerback who would be a great addition to the Falcons’ secondary. 9. Carolina Panthers – Kelvin Banks, OT, Texas Banks is a talented offensive tackle who would be a great addition to the Panthers’ offensive line. 10. Philadelphia Eagles – Devon Witherspoon, CB, Illinois Witherspoon is a talented cornerback who would be a great addition to the Eagles’ secondary. 11. Tennessee Titans – Paris Johnson Jr., OT, Ohio State Johnson is a talented offensive tackle who would be a great addition to the Titans’ offensive line. 12. Cleveland Browns – Nolan Smith, OLB, Georgia Smith is a talented pass rusher who would be a great addition to the Browns’ defense. 13. New York Jets – Derick Hall, OLB, Auburn Hall is a talented pass rusher who would be a great addition to the Jets’ defense. 14. Los Angeles Chargers – Cade Anderson, OLB, Alabama Anderson is a talented pass rusher who would be a great addition to the Chargers’ defense. 15. Kansas City Chiefs – Henry To’oTo’o, LB, Alabama To’oTo’o is a talented linebacker who would be a great addition to the Chiefs’ defense. 16. Washington Commanders – Jaxon Smith-Njigba, WR, Ohio State Smith-Njigba is a talented wide receiver who would be a great addition to the Commanders’ offense. 17. Pittsburgh Steelers – Jordan Addison, WR, USC Addison is a talented wide receiver who would be a great addition to the Steelers’ offense. 18. New Orleans Saints – Harold Perkins, LB, LSU Perkins is a talented linebacker who would be a great addition to the Saints’ defense. 19. Jacksonville Jaguars – Isaiah Foskey, OLB, Notre Dame Foskey is a talented pass rusher who would be a great addition to the Jaguars’ defense. 20. New York Giants – Adam Randall, OT, Clemson Randall is a talented offensive tackle who would be a great addition to the Giants’ offensive line. 21. Minnesota Vikings – Dani Dennis-Sutton, CB, Penn State Dennis-Sutton is a talented cornerback who would be a great addition to the Vikings’ secondary. 22. Baltimore Ravens – Blake Freeland, OT, BYU Freeland is a talented offensive tackle who would be a great addition to the Ravens’ offensive line. 23. Los Angeles Rams – Kelvin Banks, OT, Texas Banks is a talented offensive tackle who would be a great addition to the Rams’ offensive line. 24. Denver Broncos – Nolan Smith, OLB, Georgia Smith is a talented pass rusher who would be a great addition to the Broncos’ defense. 25. Buffalo Bills – Adetomiwa Adebawore, DT, Northwestern Adebawore is a talented defensive tackle who would be a great addition to the Bills’ defense. 26. Cincinnati Bengals – Zach Rice, OT, North Carolina Rice is a talented offensive tackle who would be a great addition to the Bengals’ offensive line. 27. Dallas Cowboys – Will Levis, QB, Kentucky Levis is a big, strong quarterback with a lot of upside. The Cowboys need a quarterback and Levis could be their guy. 28. Green Bay Packers – Jaxon Smith-Njigba, WR, Ohio State Smith-Njigba is a talented wide receiver who would be a great addition to the Packers’ offense. 29. Miami Dolphins (via San Francisco 49ers) – Anthony Richardson, QB, Florida Richardson is a raw talent, but he has all the tools to be a great quarterback. The Dolphins need a quarterback of the future and Richardson could be that guy. 30.
