“Our main concern is to guarantee the safety of all exhibitors and visitors” said Chen Dapeng, president of the China National Garment Association and of Chic, in a press release. “We are acting with maximum flexibility in view of current developments, taking into account the wishes of all participants to guarantee a successful participation in the fair. Planning for Chic’s Autumn [edition] is in full swing. We look forward to innovative concepts making their debut in Shanghai,” he added.

Intertextile, China’s premier yarn and fabric sourcing show, had abandoned the idea of a spring session as soon as a shift to April proved to be incompatible with the zero-Covid policies introduced by the Chinese government. The show, which is co-staged with German organiser Messe Frankfurt, announced in March that it would be held on August 29-31 in Shanghai. At the end of 2021, the pandemic had already hampered the editions of Chic and Intertextile that were planned in Shenzhen.

The last joint edition in Shanghai of these two major trade shows was held on October 9-11 2021, and it attracted 67,000 buyers. For the occasion, Chic hosted over 500 fashion and lifestyle brands exhibiting over an area of 53,000 m2, while Intertextile featured 3,300 exhibitors from 19 countries and various provinces of China.
