Ebay names new chief product officer

Ebay Inc. announced on Wednesday the appointment of Eddie Garcia

The San Jose, California-based company said Garcia will lead will lead Ebay’s core product organisation, reporting directly to Jamie Iannone, Ebay’s chief executive officer.

With more than two decades of product leadership experience, the appointment marks a return to the Ebay product organisation for Garcia, where he held roles in search and buyer experience from 2003-2014.

“I am proud to join an Ebay team that puts an outstanding customer experience at the center of everything they do,” said Garcia. “As Ebay’s tech-led reimagination comes to life, I am excited to continue to build upon the successful strategy the team has been implementing and unlock new opportunities to deliver for our customers and communities.”

Most recently, Garcia served as head of commerce, Facebook app, responsible for marketplace efforts, at Meta, after serving SVP of product development at Travelzoo and the chief product officer at Sam’s Club.

The news comes on the back of Ebay’s announcement it had launched a digital wallet, in March. The digital wallet would let customers use proceeds from their sales to conveniently purchase their next item or pay their selling expenses.
