Daisy Edgar-Jones’s Met Gala Crop Top Has a Subtle Nod To Karl Lagerfeld’s Chanel Years

After attending the Met Gala for the first time last year, Daisy Edgar-Jones was thrilled to return to the star-studded event for a second time to celebrate Karl Lagerfeld’s illustrious design career. “I can’t actually believe I’m going again—there’s so much I love about the Met Gala,” she told Vogue. “People-watching is one of my favorite pastimes, and the event is perfect to do that, but I also love fashion and I enjoy seeing how people express themselves through clothes.”

For the 2023 Met Gala, the 24-year-old British actor—who’s made waves with her roles in Under the Banner of Heaven and the adaptation of Sally Rooney’s novel Normal People*—*turned to Gucci for a custom ensemble. “It’s a black two-piece set, which features white piping and bow details, as well as a camellia flower at the front,” she says of her look. “Its classic aesthetic, along with the color palette, nods to Karl’s time at Chanel, but it’s also got its Gucci twists. It’s the most beautiful outfit I’ve ever worn. I feel very elegant but also comfortable in it.”
