Both Margot Robbie and Ana de Armas have been spotted wearing tea-length polka-dot dresses by Alessandra Rich, one of the princess’s go-to designers, over the last few days. Though the brand has offerings with shorter hemlines, she always reaches for the more modest cuts, in polka dots—like the styles both actors wore this week.
While Robbie opted for a cerulean spotted dress while promoting her upcoming film Amsterdam, de Armas chose a simple black-and-white polka-dot dress during a visit to Late Night With Seth Meyers. Not only have the two actors famously played dead Los Angeles starlets (Sharon Tate and Marilyn Monroe, respectively), they’re now part of the Alessandra Rich fan club. It’s a rite of passage.
When Alessandra Rich trends, it’s typically due to Middleton, who’s worn the designer to several high-profile events this year alone, including Wimbledon and the Royal Ascot horse races. The Princess of Wales’s love affair with polka-dot dresses spans nearly a decade, and she’s worn pieces from affordable retailers like ASOS alongside favorite brands like Superga and Boden.
Royal women’s off-duty style has been the inspiration for Hollywood women for years now—lest we forget Hailey Bieber’s entire Princess Diana–inspired photo shoot, an ode to her sweatshirt and biker shorts combo. But until now, their more buttoned-up looks were seen as too stuffy for LA.
It’s no surprise that, as the world’s eyes turn toward the future of the royal family following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, they’re all emulating the crown. It’s chic!
