Google News Room: Google AI Blog: Training Compute, Startups, and Trust and Safety Updates From Google for Startups Summit

Yesterday, we brought together founders, investors, and ecosystem leaders to discuss the latest in startup investing and innovation at our virtual Google for Startups Summit. Some of the topics included training compute, new services for startups, and an overview of our initiatives to support Trust and Safety in the startup ecosystem. Below, we’ve highlighted a few of these topics and provided additional resources for more information. Training compute: Distributed training over multiple GPUs delivers the best price-performance for training large models. But it can be challenging to manage and maintain these complex systems. That’s why we’re announcing private beta for Vertex AI Workspaces today. Workspaces provides training compute management as a fully managed service. It’s the easiest way to set up, manage, and monitor your distributed training jobs. Learn more about Workspaces. A crucial part of our mission at Google for Startups is to help startups solve some of society’s biggest challenges. A prime example is Aera Technology, a startup that has developed a high-tech wildfire detection system. We partnered with Aera to allow them to scale their machine learning models on Google Cloud. They can now detect wildfires in real time using existing camera infrastructure, which helps firefighters respond more quickly. Learn more about how Aera is using Cloud TPUs. Startups: We want to make it as easy as possible for startups to build on Google Cloud with training compute. That’s why we’ve released several services that are designed specifically for startups. These services include: Startup Success Program: Receive a $100,000 credit to help launch your startup on Google Cloud.
