It’s the first major public appearance Kylie Jenner has made in a post-Kylothee (that’s Kylie and Timothée, as in Chalamet) world, so of course she had to do it up big. To the 2023 Met Gala, Jenner wore a playful Jean Paul Gaultier dress with a built-in wow factor.
Leaving the hotel, Jenner was wearing what appeared to be merely an oversized blue jacket reminiscent of a boxer’s robe. When she got to the carpet, however, she shrugged off the jacket, which transformed into the train of her ruby red figure-hugging dress.
Historically, Jenner’s Met Gala looks have been hit-or-miss with a lot of folks, and the bridal gown she wore to the 2022 gala is a prime example. The dress code was “gilded glamour,” and Jenner took the opportunity to dress in honor of her friend Virgil Abloh, the founder of the brand Off-White, who had died a few months previously. “To celebrate V tonight and his incredible legacy truly means the world to me. i’m humbled to wear this dress and honor my talented beautiful friend. we felt you tonight Virgil and love you forever,” she wrote in an Instagram caption, per Page Six.
