Everywhere you look, starlets and A-listers are stepping out in sheer dresses. It was practically a nudist colony at the Vanity Fair Oscars after-party. Sarah Michelle Gellar has always embraced her role as an America’s Sweetheart type with cute, feminine, hot but not necessarily sexy looks…but her latest red-carpet appearance manages to combine both styles perfectly.
At a West Hollywood screening of her Paramount Plus show Wolfpack, the former Buffy the Vampire Slayer star slayed (had to, sorry) the red carpet in a frilly white lace mini-dress over black lingerie. Black eyeliner and black nails added a bit of edge, but the rest is classic SMG: tousled blonde hair, simple but stylish shoes, and a big smile. Seriously, how perfect is this?
The mom of two was clearly feeling herself, as she should, and posted a pic of the outfit to Instagram with a caption quoting Meghan Trainor’s latest earworm: “I am your mother, you listen to me.”

Not that we didn’t appreciate SMG’s “cupcake mix” era (remember FoodStirs? what a time), but it’s great to see her back on screen and back on the red carpet. She looked seriously so SoCal cute in a crop top and long skirt on The Late Late Show…

…and…okay I’m not entirely sure what’s happening with this violet lace-covered slip from Rodarte that’s both too long and not long enough, but you know what, we’re letting her have it.
Are we at the start of a fresh era for Sarah Michelle Gellar? She seems to enjoy layering and is happy to use fashion to promote her show, like when she put a bra on main for a new episode. Whatever’s going on, we support it and can’t wait to see more.
